In search of a decent free web hosting provider people spend many nights in front of their computer screens. Though there are many quality free web hosting providers but the disk space and the monthly bandwidth transfer limit don’t match the needs of many webmasters. 5GBFree.com’s free hosting service satisfies this need of webmasters. One thing that is really extra-ordinary about this host is the fact that to help users manage their websites it provides cPanel, which is a web based control panel and is only provided by premium hosting providers.
Let’s quickly come to the features of 5GBFree hosting service
Domains and Sub-domains
It allows one addon domain and 3 sub-domains to be hosted on a single account. But when I used their service, I was not able to find any panel where I could add another top-level domain. Might be that they are regarding the domain that people get when they first sign up as an addon domain. Moreover, there was a panel that allowed creating 3 more subdomains.
One interesting feature about this host is that it allows one domain to be parked on a single account. Don’t confuse parked domain feature with the addon domain feature, both are different. Addon domain feature allows user to add one more website to his account, whereas parked domain is something different. Any domain hosted as a parked domain will only point to the home directory of your main domain, for example- if you have yourdomain.com as your main domain and you are adding mydomain.com as a parked domain, then both the domains will open the same website. This is useful when you have business in more than one country. You can create different domain for different countries (like yourdomain.com, yourdomain.in, yourdomain.co.uk) and all these domains will open the same website.
Web disk and Monthly Bandwidth Transfer
You get 5 GB of disk space and 20 GB of monthly bandwidth transfer with the free account which is more than enough. Even many premium hosting providers don’t give this much of hosting space on their server.
Unless you are going to host media website or some file hosting site, you will not face any problem.
And if you are worried about of the monthly bandwidth transfer limit, so let me clear that also. Say every page of your website is 1 MB in size and you are getting 100 pageviews daily, then your monthly bandwidth will equal to 1 X 100 X 30 = 3000MB (roughly 3 GB). With this method you can calculate if 20 GB is enough for you or you need another host.
cPanel is the coolest and most used web hosting control panel in the world. Generally, only customers of premium hosting services get this panel but 5GBFree.com really has big heart.

The reason why it is the coolest platform to manage your website is that with this panel you can easily manage everything on your website. It is fast, secure and reliable. All the needed tools are arranged in different sections so the users can easily find what they want. It also displays your server statistics so that you can always monitor how much of space and bandwidth your website has used.
Scripts, CMS and Databases
When I first opened the CMS installer that 5GBFree hosting provides, I was really amazed. I hadn’t seen these much choices on any free hosting provider before. I did the counting and number was whopping 132. It includes all the famous scripts like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, Opencart, Prestashop and PHP-Nuke.
Creating new databases is very easy task on this server. Just click on the MySQL database wizard from the cPanel and you will be guided at every step till you finish the wizard. phpMyAdmin provides an easy access to your databases if you want to edit them.
If you are to ask me about this host, the service is really amazing. While using, it always felt like I am on a premium hosting service. But the one thing that I didn’t like was the inability to add a top level domain name. You are stuck with the sub-domain that you create while signing up.
