Every person who has an account somewhere should have a Strong Password and despite having one, it got hacked, then how to secure is also another factor.
So you’ve got a great website up and running that you can manage and update for yourself. It’s very empowering being able to edit your website without having to go back to the web developer every time, isn’t it? But what would you do if your website got hacked and you were locked out of your website?
I think that a hacker would have no interest in getting into a website that has low volumes of visitors, you’ve very much mistaken. Even sites that get a few visits a day are valuable to a hacker, and the hacker can utilize it. What does the hacker have in his mind for your site? You must learn it to identify the hacker’s activity on your website.
Most user-editable websites have some form on online log-in that needs a username and password to let you into the editing ‘backend’. We spoke to our friend Simon at Way fresh, a leading web development agency in the North East, the UK about how to keep a website secure with a strong password. Here’s what he recommended.
There is no such thing as Guidelines for strong password construction because what you read online is also readable by the hackers, right? Assume yourself in the place of a hacker; then you will create a countermeasure for those rules, right?
Always create your ideas and never follow article that teaches you the creation of password because it is visible to hackers and it is also possible that the hackers themselves are suggesting it to you.
In many cases, you will not notice a thing for weeks, and It happened to many WordPress users last year. Let us suggest few things that you should do once a week to check if your site is in control or not.
1 – Check users list because hackers create new admin users to connect anytime.
2 – You will find newly added pages that you never created.
3 – Most of your post will be edited, and you will also find links added to it.
4 – Your website or a page is redirecting to some random page.
5 – You are unable to log in.
These are five things, which we have seen on many sites.
So, how do they get access to your account?
Emails: We receive an email every day from anonymous people saying that we earned an SEO AUDIT. Never accept those emails because they are not good for your site.
Confirm: Are you receiving a confirmation emails? Never accept them.
Weak Password: Make sure your Hosting account & website administrator account has a strong password.
Malware or Virus: We have seen many website administrators save their password in a text document, and then your PC is infected, thus getting hacked. Always save the password in your mind, not on a text document.
Virus, Adware, Malware, and Trojans exist to copy your files and send them to hacker’s servers, and then use them to their advantage. Let us know your thoughts and how do you protect yourself in the comment section.
