What is Hosting?
Hosting is basically a service that allows you to make your website available via the World Wide Web. In simple words it can be said that you can make your own website and make its available for others.
There are two types of hosting Managed hosting and Unmanaged hosting. There are lots of pros and cons of both these types.
You might not believe me when I say that managed hosting is quite beneficial than unmanaged hosting. Unmanaged hosting may give you lots of benefits at first but this will ultimately lead to lots of problems. So now let me tell you about the pros of Unmanaged hosting.
Pros of Unmanaged Hosting
There are no pros of unmanaged hosting, the only thing that it offers is freedom. Unmanaged hosting lets you decide and configure everything according to your preference. Now this includes the web server, software, script and many more of such features. You have full control over everything in unmanaged hosting.
Well this is the only this that is best in unmanaged hosting. Now check the cons of unmanaged hosting.
Cons of Unmanaged Hosting
There are lots of cons of unmanaged hosting and down below I have listed all the cons. So check the out.
- Affordability: This hosting may let you enjoy low rates at the beginning. But make no mistake when you are stuck with an unmanaged hosting site the hosts may start charging you highly. This is one of the main problem faced by those who go for such hosting.
- Technical Support: There is no technical support for VPS, Dedicated hosting sites. If you face any problem then you are the one who need to fix that and have to deal with all the problems. The hosting company won’t help you out for free.
- Security: One of the major priorities of every site. When you have an un-managed hosting servers the company doesn’t help you out with the security, you will have to monitor and protect your site on your own form the hackers who are always waiting to delete and destroy precious information. For making your site hacker-proof you need to have a lot of money, time and energy.
- Usability: Using kind of VPS or Dedicated hosting site can be quite hectic. The only thing that the host focuses on is the availability of the web server. Other than that everything, from the application installation to the upgrade is your responsibility. If you are lucky enough then you will come across a company that provides the control panel, otherwise there are some companies that don’t even give you the control panel. You have to find the best one and have to install it on your own.
So these are of the cons that come with such servers and we don’t recommend with it if you are not aware about management and technical skills to manage servers.
According to the research done by me, I have found that nearly maximum of the experts and professionals recommend that one should not go for the unmanaged hosting as it has lots of drawbacks. But if you have all the skills and knowledge required for it, then it is worth it.
